Dundee’s bid to be City of Culture 2017 has been digitally dispatched at a ceremony in the City Square.
Lord Provost Bob Duncan pressed the button to send the document to the UK Government Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The send-off ceremony took place outside the Caird Hall, opening with a performance from Baldragon Academy Soul Band.
A commemorative City of Culture poem was then recited by Dundee’s newly appointed Makar, W.N Herbert. The text of the poem was largely made up of comments posted on the WEDundee website.
The bid was then forwarded by the Lord Provost, who made the final “click” to send the document.
He told the crowd: “I am delighted, as the city’s lord provost, to be sending off this document with your valued support.”
