Dalgety Bay man sentenced after struggle with police

A Dalgety Bay teenager who assaulted a police officer and caused a disturbance in a restaurant in separate incidents has been sentenced to 10 months’ detention.

Callum Campbell-Dunn, 19, of Barnhill Road, admitted that on June 12 at Hospital Hill, Dunfermline, he assaulted PC Bryan Kirk, seized him by the body and attempted to butt him.

He also admitted that on December 5 at the Compass Restaurant, Harbour Drive, Dalgety Bay, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, repeatedly uttered challenges to fight, brandished a piece of glass and repeatedly struck the windows.

He further pleaded guilty to being in possession of a broken piece of glass and resisting, obstructing or hindering four police officers and struggling violently with them.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday, depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said the first incident saw police called when someone reported a male lying on the street in the early hours of the morning.

Sheriff Charles Macnair told Campbell-Dunn: “You have an extremely bad record for offences involving police officers.”
