Man threw dog poo at woman’s door in ‘heat of the moment’

A woman had her dog’s poo thrown at her door by an angry neighbour.

The man hurled the excrement at the home of the dog owner and left a letter on her doorstep threatening violence if there was a repeat.

The incident led to a court appearance for Brian Kumar, 25, of Skye Road, Dunfermline.

He admitted that on March 10 last year at an address on Abel Place, Dunfermline, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing, making threats and threw excrement at the front door.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the woman involved had a pet whippet. At around 4.10pm the woman heard a knock at the door before hearing two loud thuds from something hitting the door.

“She saw two heaps of faeces had hit the glass on her door,” said Ms Yousaf.

There was a message left on her doorstep, signed “Brian” saying, “Next time you let the dog s*** on the doorstep I will take the jaw off you.”

Later, when the woman left her home, she was approached by Kumar who spoke to her about the mess at the front door.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client had “acted in the heat of the moment”.

“There was a long-standing problem of dog fouling he spoke to them but it didn’t change the behaviour in any way, shape or form,” he said.

“He thought there was no other way to make the message clear. He was concerned because his children were walking in the area where the dog was fouling.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence for good behaviour until August 5.
