Mother and civil partner charged with Thornton boy’s murder

The mother of a Fife toddler who died earlier this year in mysterious circumstances has appeared in court alongside her civil partner charged with his murder.

Two-year-old Liam Fee was found dead at his family home in Donald Crescent, Thornton, on March 22.

At the time police said his death was being treated as “unexplained” and an investigation was launched.

Following the tot’s tragic death, his mother Rachel Fee and her civil partner, Nyomi Fee, released a statement through police which read: “Liam was a happy-go-lucky little boy, with blonde hair, big blue eyes and a cheeky smile.

“He was very much loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Liam had his whole life ahead of him and we are devastated at our loss.”

Today, both Liam’s 30-year-old mother and Nyomi Fee, 27, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court before Sheriff Graeme Warner charged with his murder.

They are both also facing two charges of cruelty to children under the Children and Young Persons (Scotland) Act 1937.

Both made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody while their case is continued for further examination.
