A woman has died following a two-car crash in north east Fife earlier this week.

Police have confirmed that Audrey Thom, 58, passed away on Thursday morning after she was involved in an accident on the A914 between Dairsie Roundabout and Balmullo on Tuesday.

Mrs Thom was a passenger in a grey Mazda 3 when it was in a collision with a white Renault Traffic van.

She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries two days later. The driver of the southbound vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Mrs Thom’s family have issued a statement through Police Scotland expressing their grief at what happened.

“Audrey was a much loved wife, mother to three daughters and very recent granny,” it read.“She will be sadly missed.”

“We ask that our privacy is respected while we come to terms with this tragedy.”

Officers are urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.

Road policing inspector Brenda Sinclair said: “We are still making inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw these vehicles or who witnessed the collision, to contact us on 101.”
