Politicians went head to head at an independence referendum hustings event in Perth last night.
Roseanna Cunningham, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, debated topical issues with Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie and Murdo Fraser, MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, at the event in Letham St Mark’s Church.
It was the first in the Seven Cities Tour organised by the Evangelical Alliance Scotland to give evangelical Christians the chance to question politicians.
Last month the Alliance released its referendum manifesto, What Kind of Nation?, and called on politicians to broaden the debate and allow the views of “ordinary people” to be heard on issues such as poverty and welfare.
Fred Drummond, director of the Alliance in Scotland, said he feels the events will prove to be a “significant moment” in the national referendum debate.
“These church-hosted debates have attracted more of Scotland’s leading political figures than any other debates in the country,” he said.
