Proposals to enhance safety on the A9 through Perthshire are being considered by Scottish ministers.
Plans to ease traffic bottlenecks and transform accident black-spots have been drawn up as part of the £150,000 A9 Keir roundabout to Luncarty corridor study, which was carried out by Aecom consultants for Transport Scotland.
Additional lanes in the Broxden area to boost travel times on the A9 and the M90 are understood to be among the proposals.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “The initial study which looked at the A9 between Keir roundabout and Luncarty is now being taken forward as two distinct pieces of work one looking at options for the section of A9 between Keir roundabout and Broxden and the other examining issues around the trunk road at Perth.
“For Keir roundabout to Broxden, we are looking at options for closing the right turns across the dual carriageway and expect that preliminary work to be completed later this year.
“We are also reviewing the work undertaken to date on the transport appraisal of the A9 at Perth and will be working closely with Perth and Kinross over the coming months.
“While no decisions have been taken, we remain committed to working closely with Perth and Kinross Council as both studies progress with a view to delivering the most effective solutions for Perth and the strategic transport network.”
