Rock on T in the Park granted extended Saturday night licence for 2014

Saturday at T in the park 2014 will carry on into the wee small hours.

T in the Park has been granted permission to carry on to 1am next year.

Councillors today agreed to an hour-long extension for the Saturday evening schedule, which it is said will help T in the Park attract more top international acts to next’s year’s festival.

The request was backed by members of Perth and Kinross Council’s licensing committee after they heard the reasons for the move.

Extending the operating time for the full arena from midnight to 1am was vital to helping the Balado festival compete with other events across Britain and abroad, event manager Colin Roger of DF Concerts explained.

“This request for a variation to the licence is because we have the opportunity to bring two international headliner artists to the T in the Park line-up in a co-headliner format,” he said.

“To achieve this both acts would need to perform in darkness which is why we have requested this extension of the operating times.”

The board unanimously agreed to the request.

Arctic Monkeys have already been announced as one of next year’s headline acts.
