A gunman shot two people from the window of a Perth flat after a drunken night out.

Darryn Kilbryde, 36, fired pellets from an airgun, striking two men as they walked along the street.

One victim later required surgery to remove a pellet from his abdomen.

At Perth Sheriff Court, Kilbryde admitted assaulting Peter Ross and Alick Lumsden on May 5 last year.

He targeted Mr Lumsden at the junction of South Methven Street and County Place and shot Mr Ross on County Place.

In both cases, Kilbryde discharged a pistol loaded with a pellet, injuring the men.

The attacks took place 12 minutes apart in the early hours of the morning.

Mr Lumsden was walking with a friend when he was struck at 1.10am. The attack left his T-shirt torn and bloody and a pellet lodged in his skin.

Initial surgery to remove it was unsuccessful and he faced a further operation this year.

Just minutes earlier Mr Ross was shot as he passed by the Money Shop.

A police expert concluded that both shots were fired from Kilbryde’s then flat, where officers found two air pistols and a number of ball bearings.

Sentence was deferred on Kilbryde, of Pilrig Street, Edinburgh, until October.
