Wedding guest who assaulted police branded a ‘drunken idiot’

A woman was branded “a drunken idiot” after she became involved in a scuffle with police officers at a wedding.
Suzanne McCusker, 25, lashed out when they refused to give her a lift back to her home on Balbeggie Street, Dundee, after the wedding at Murrayshall House Hotel, by Scone, on November 23 last year.
Staff were forced to call the police when alcohol-laden guests fell out as they boarded a bus home and, while McCusker was not initially involved, she soon fell foul of officers.
They were forced to arrest her and take her to police headquarters in Perth, only to come under attack again as she assaulted an officer in a cell.
At Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday she admitted assaulting two officers at the hotel; and a second offence of assaulting an officer at Barrack Street.
An unimpressed Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “Drunken idiots like you are a daily hazard for officers, who find themselves prevented from simply doing their duty.”
He ordered McCusker to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
