Former X Factor contestant Jahmene Douglas is coming to Perth this weekend.

X Factor star Jahmene Douglas is coming to Perth this weekend to take part in a nativity event.

The 23-year-old singer, who lost out to James Arthur in the 2012 competition, will be at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene tomorrow.

There he will be part of Sir Brian Souter’s Christmas Experience, which will feature traditional carol singing and an assortment of animals.

It is expected that the 400-seat church will be filled for both shows, which take place at 3.50pm and 5.50pm.

Sir Brian said: “We are really pleased to get Jahmene. He is sure to appeal to adults and youngsters alike.

“Jahmene is a committed Christian. He came through early difficulties in his life but he is a really positive person.

“Our Christmas Experience is a little bit different this year but it will still be very enjoyable.”

Revealing himself as an X Factor fan, Sir Brian added: “I like the programme and have tuned in regularly on a Saturday night.

“It is sad, I know, but another 13 million were also watching it.”

Jahmene’s career has taken off since he appeared in the ITV talent show.

Motown legend Stevie Wonder was so impressed with Jahmene that he agreed to play harmonica on his debut album, Love Never Fails.

He was nominated for an award at the Mobos and named best male newcomer at the Urban Music awards.

The event tomorrow is free to attend but donations will be collected for the Hope for Justice campaign, which works to end human trafficking in the UK.

Sir Brian said: “People may be aware of a recent police bust in Manchester which released victims of modern-day slavery.

“Hope for Justice has been doing amazing work in this country and overseas.

“It is desperately sad that this is going on in this country. One girl who was freed still has to remain under cover because the gang has threatened to kill her.”
