Steven named winner of MasterChef: The Professionals

The two chefs from Courier country who were vying to be named the winner of MasterChef: The Professionals 2013 have lost out at the final stage.

Adam Handling, from Dundee, and Scott Davies, from St Andrews, impressed all the way to Thursday night’s final, but were pipped by Steven Edwards from Horsham.

Winner Steven is head chef at The South Lodge Hotel’s Camellia Restaurant in Lower Beeding.

After being named winner by chief judge Michel Roux Jr, Steven said: “Awesome. I wasn’t expecting that. It feels so surreal.

“I don’t know what to say apart from ‘thank you’.”Online Editor’s Blog: Did I serve up our MasterChef report too quickly?Adam is former head chef at the Fairmont in St Andrews, and Scott is head chef at The Adamson, also in St Andrews.

Adam said: “I’m very happy for Steven. It’s always been me and him very close and today I failed and he went forward.”

Scott said he was “sad” but added that he was “delighted” for Steven.

He added: “Definitely the best chef won today and I’m very happy for him.”
