Coming up in Thursday’s Courier Run! Run for your lives! They are going to microchip us all. That, and a psychic off of the telly

Shocking news from Holyrood.

MSPs had a jolly busy day. They were dicsussing several weighty issues including efforts to keep tabs on dogs by microchipping them all and the possiblity of introducing a new national identity database incorporating the details of all humanoid Scots.

The astonishing upshot is that they are gong to implant microchips in all our heads.

Meanwhile, there will be a consultation on the prepartion of a new bureacratic system to keep tabs on all dogs.

Or something like that anyway.

For the full stories there is but one man whom to turn. And that mighty, mighty man is our polticial editor Kieran Andrews.

He has been absolutely all over matters Holyrood and will bring you copy as accurate as it is erudite.

Thanks goodness.

In other news, telly psychic and former pro-footballer (who knew?) Derek Acorah is winging his way to Fife.

He will be locking himself (and paying guests) in the secret bunker where people will be invited to bumble about in the dark and feel his considerable presence (or something similar).

If super super-natural stories don’t float your boat then maybe you prefer wood.

And not just any old wood. Wood that makes up mighty oaks.

We have the eagerly anticipated reuslts of the European Tree of the Year contest.

Has Lady’s tree (that’s the one in Dunkeld where the old osprey nests every year) scoop the top gong?

Or has an Estonian tree that stands in the middle of a football pitch taken the premier spot (and if not, how do I even know about such a bole?).

Find out in your tree-ific Thursday Courier.

Away from the battle of the bark, we also have stunning pont news.

Yip, the Forth rail bridge has celebrated its 125th year in spectacular style.

It really is a quite fantastic span.

Bridge fans really wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.
