ARBROATH FC yesterday named Steve Kirk as their new manager.

Kirk had been in charge of the side in a caretaker capacity since John Brownlie resigned as manager in October.

Speaking about his appointment last night, Kirk said he was delighted to be given the nod from the Arbroath FC committee.

“I’m very happy and we just need to get on with it now,” said the new Lichties boss.

Arbroath have undergone a transformation under Kirk and, unbeaten at home in their last four games, they are performing with confidence.

“I think the players have responded well since I’ve been in charge,” added Kirk.

“They have knuckled down and got on with things and that’s been reflected in the results.

“At the end of the day they are playing a lot better. Our home form is good and we just need to perform a bit better away and hopefully we can start to move up the league.”
