City in dark over Campbell links

Brechin City chairman David Birse has said the club is bemused by talk of manager Dick Campbell being linked to the Partick Thistle vacancy.

“It is just talk,” he said yesterday.

“We have not been approached directly or indirectly.”

Birse said he was looking forward to a fresh start in the New Year when the transfer window opened and he expected Campbell to be making changes to his Glebe Park squad which iscurrently lying at the bottom of division one.

“People get tired of us saying we have been unlucky but that is the way it is. I think we will come away strongly. There is still plenty of time and if we can string two or three wins together we will soon be up the league.”

Birse also indicated that Brechin are prospering since their promotion in the division.

“We are actually quite pleased with our finances at the moment. We are not flush but we are in a comfortable position and it is good to see more people coming throught the gates,

“That is one of the reasons we are so keen to remain in this division.”
