McCall asks fans to play part

DUNDEE UNITED manager Ian McCall has asked supporters to curtail their Christmas shopping and cheer his team on to a Tannadice treble.

The Tangerines take on bottom club Partick Thistle on Saturday, looking to chalk up their third consecutive victory at their own ground.

If they can build on the successes against Hearts and Livingston it will be their first home hat-trick since Paul Sturrock was boss four years ago.

“This is a big test for us and I would class it as our biggest game of the season so far,” said McCall. “We need the fans behind us and I am asking them to come out even though it’s the last Saturday before Christmas.

“Without looking like world-beaters, there is a strength about the team at the moment, but we really need the supporters to back us when we face Thistle.”

Defender Chris Innes has only a 50-50 chance of making the Jags match because of a groin strain.

However, there was encouraging news regarding keeper Tony Bullock, with McCall stating, “He is really coming on and could be ready for a game in a week to 10 days’ time.”
