TRAGEDY HAS struck a Perth family twice within a fortnight, with a father and then his 14-year-old daughter dying in separate incidents over the festive season.

Perth Academy pupil Jenna Morris, from Stanley Crescent, has been named as the victim of a fatal accident on the A93 Perth to Blairgowrie road on Sunday.

She was the passenger in a black Fiesta heading towards Perth less than a mile south of Guildtown, which turned over at least once as it travelled down the hill and came to rest in the centre of the road.

Just 12 days earlier Jenna’s father, Brian Morris (41) committed suicide after sending a text message to his family telling them what he was about to do and where to find his body.

Mr Morris was found dead by police officers at a service station on the A90.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on his body and police “found no suspicious circumstances,” a force statement pointed out at the time.

“It was a very tragic death indeed,” the spokesperson added. The family commented last night that “they have nothing to say.”

Mother Marie (39) has two other daughters, Samantha (17) and Jilly (16).

The driver of the car in Jenna’s accident, a 17-year-old man, is still in a serious condition in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Both occupants were thrown clear of the car and the man suffered head injuries.

Other motorists stopped to help, and a local doctor who was cycling past also gave assistance.

Popular Jenna was a member of the Perth Academy Black Watch Cadets and was also a martial arts specialist.

One of her coaches at the Temple Martial Arts club, based at the Tulloch Institute in Perth, Julie-Anne McLean, said, “This is devastating news.

“All the kids at the club are so cut up about it.

“Jenna left the club a wee while ago to concentrate more on her cadets but she was a brilliant student and won a lot of trophies at kung fu and kick boxing. She participated in everything really.

“She was such a happy girl and we are all still in shock that this has happened, especially coming so soon after her dad died as well.

“Jenna’s sister Jilly is a member and they were like Laurel and Hardy. Jilly was the serious one and Jenna the funny one, they were like a double act. One of my girls is going to see Jilly later today.”

It was also a double tragedy for Perth Academy at the weekend, with a former pupil of the school dying in a separate road accident on Saturday.

Peter Martin (17), from Dunning, died on his motor cycle close to the entrance to Gleneagles Hotel at the junction of the A823 and A824 minor roads.
