Lonely dog’s search for home

PADS worker Claire Lopston with Lucy.

A PERTHSHIRE dog so wants a loving new home that it is starting to affect her health.

Lonely Lucy the Rott-weiler has staff at the Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) extremely worried as she is eating little and is starting to loose weight.

Lucy is normally a happy 18-month-old but her eyes are dulled and her tail seldom wags.

“When a dog has been in the kennels for a long time, this often happens,” said a PADS spokesperson.

“Lucy has been here for fully six months and desperately needs a home.”

To avoid disappointment, PADS also wants to make it clear that Lucy cannot be re-homed in a farming area of the countryside.

Although Rottweilers sometimes have a reputation for being aggressive, Lucy is quite the opposite.

Raising your voice to her will see Lucy cower away from you.

Staff at PADS think this may be because in the past she has been hit.

Anyone who might be able to give her a home can call PADS on 01764 684491.

* Two mistreated dogs are on the mend thanks to the care of volunteers at the Thornton-based Home A Dog Association.

Their recovery has gone so well that Gemma and Tilly are now ready to be rehomed and HADA is seeking kind people able to look after them properly.

Gemma, an elderly black terrier cross no bigger than a Jack Russell, was found wandering the streets by council dog wardens and HADA convener Fay Eadie was asked to step in.

Gemma had lost around 60% of her hair due either to a flea infestation, an allergy or skin infection and was in desperate need of treatment. Now, following an operation, a course of anti-histamines and antibiotics, Gemma’s hair has all but grown back and she is said to have a lovely nature.

In contrast, Tilly is a six or seven-week-old collie pup handed in to Fay by a man who knocked at her door. Tilly had problems with her legs and, following investigation by a vet, was found to be suffering from malnutrition.

Fay said the pup was very lively but would be better in a home without children because of her leg problems.

Anyone who can offer a loving home to either dog is asked to call Fay Eadie on 01592-774922.
