Tayside Police showed they were among the best in the pack when the Scottish Regional Dog Trials were held in Fife last week. Two entrants from the force took third and seventh place among Scotland’s top police dogs. Claiming third place was PC Lindsay Williams and Zeta (a German shepherd bitch). Seventh was PC Steve Ritchie with new recruit Max (also a German shepherd), who only qualified as a police dog two weeks ago. Constable Williams and Zeta’s efforts were of a particularly high standard and the force has just received confirmation that they have earned a place at the British National Dog Trials. Their achievement places Zeta in the top 1% of all dogs in the UK. It also offers deserved recognition to Lindsay’s abilities as a dog handler. She has only been with the dog section for two years and is already qualified at police dog excellent level. The competition covers disciplines including agility, obedience, tracking, searching and criminal work. |
