THE WEDDING of a Dundee couple yesterday was a very special family affair with the bride’s grandfather, a retired minister, taking the service. Childhood sweethearts Nicola Key and Euan McLean, both 21, tied the knot at Barnhill St Margaret’s Church in a small ceremony for close family and friends. The day was made extra special for the couple as Nicola’s grandfather, the Rev Archibald Millar, made the couple a little more relaxed after agreeing to conduct the ceremony. Mr Millar (74) retired from St Stephen’s Church in Perth nine years ago. Thereafter he helped out at St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields, Perth, for a further five years on a voluntary basis. He has conducted the marriage services of his daughter and two sons in the past but this is the first of his grandchildren he has married. Nicola, a dental nurse in Barnhill, and Euan, a ceiling fixer, have been together for four-and-half years after meeting when at school at Harris Academy. The newly-weds plan to set up home in Carnoustie. They celebrated their marriage with a reception in the Woodlands Hotel in Broughty Ferry. |
