Stash of guns investigated

Police are investigating a stash of guns and ammunition discovered on the grassy beach near the yacht club in Broughty Ferry.

A member of the public who was walking along the seafront found the items, which are believed to be second world war-era models, last week.

Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances, saying the guns, which are rifles, were contained inside a case and appeared to be antique.

Officers believe the box may have fallen from a boat and then been washed up on the shore.

The guns are being sent for examination and anyone with information or who can help police with their inquiries should call 223200 or contact any officer.
