MONTY PYTHON favourite and travel expert Michael Palin will be among those taking part in Perthshire’s newest festival. The inaugural Winter Words events will be held at Pitlochry Theatre later this month—and is being billed as the area’s first ever festival of literature. Winter Words will feature a range of well known leading lights, including playwright Liz Lochhead. An audience with Michael Palin—scheduled for Saturday, January 29—is sure to prove popular, as a spokesman explained. “Nicer than Des Lynam and better-travelled than Alan Whicker, Michael Palin is on top of the world,” he said. “And why wouldn’t he be, with Himalaya such a huge hit for the BBC and the best-selling book of the series flying off the shelves? Winter Words is therefore thrilled to be able to welcome our most engaging contemporary adventurer to Pitlochry.” Organisers are confident Liz Lochhead—due to appear on Thursday, January 27—will also be a big draw. For more information on Winter Words, set to run from January 27 to 30, contact the theatre box office on 01796 484626 or visit www.pitlochry.org.uk. |
