Body found in Kirriemuir

A WOMAN’S body was found at an Angus beauty spot over the weekend.

Police yesterday confirmed that they had established the identity of the woman who was found in The Den, Kirriemuir, on Saturday morning. Although her name is not being released at this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

The fully clothed female was discovered around 10 am in The Den, a very popular route for walkers.

Police had earlier released a description of the woman in a bid to help gather information that might help to establish her identity.

She was approximately 50-60 years old, five feet tall and of slim build with brown, greying hair.

When discovered she was wearing a black puffa style jacket, blue trousers, cream body warmer, woollen multi-pastel coloured jersey, green T shirt, black scarf and black ankle boots.

She was also wearing a ladies quartz wristwatch with a black leather strap and a white metal band ring on her wedding finger.

Yesterday afternoon a police spokesman confirmed that their inquiries had revealed the woman’s identity.

“Tayside police can confirm that the identity of this woman has now been established,” the spokes-man said.

He added, “Her details are not being released at this time as family members have yet to be informed.”
