FRESH SNOW on top of full runs throughout all the ski centres resulted in the busiest weekend of the ski season so far. Glenshee saw around 3250 snow enthusiasts out on the slopes in good weather on Saturday and yesterday. It was a similar picture at Glencoe, where a spokeswoman said the good con-ditions were expected to continue over the next few days. At the Lecht, there were around 3300 skiers, and all runs were complete with good cover. Pat Mathieson said, “It’s been snowing again and conditions are getting better. It’s been our busiest weekend this season.” It was a more mixed picture at the Nevis range, where 3000 enthusiasts found some of the lower slopes out of action. Meanwhile bad visibility marred yesterday’s action at Cairn Gorm, with only 1356 skiers and spectators, in contrast to Saturday when fine weather brought double that number. |
