Motor cyclist is seriously injured

A MOTOR CYCLIST was flown by air ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, in a serious condition after an accident that temporarily closed the A9 south of Perth on Saturday.

The 49-year-old man was travelling north at 3 pm when his bike crashed through the central reservation, crossed both southbound carriageways and came to rest against a fence.

With traffic quickly building up on the busy stretch of dual carriageway, police closed the road in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land, and set diversions in place.

After receiving treatment at the scene, the air ambulance took the man to hospital.

His condition was described as “serious but stable” by police last night. No other details about him have been released.

No one else was involved in the accident.

The road closure remained in place for several hours as police road accident investigators examined the scene and the motor cycle—believed to be a high-powered Suzuki—was recovered.

Any witnesses to the accident have been urged to contact the police in Perth on 01738 621141.
