RANGERS LEGENDS Mark Hateley and Graham Roberts were in Perth yesterday to launch the third All-Stars Auld Enemy match between Scotland and England at McDiarmid Park later this month. Peter Beardsley, Ian Wright, Rob Lee, Chris Waddle and Dave Beasant are among the English squad who will be playing on Friday May 27, looking to make it third time lucky on the back of defeats at Dunfermline and Hull. Hateley, who will be player/manager on the night, said, “I’m sure it will be a great evening for all the family. “McDiarmid Park is a terrific little ground and a good turnout should ensure a great atmosphere. “All the players in both sides have played at the top level in the game and when you’ve done that you never lose that competitive edge. “We all want to win and there have been a couple of dust ups in the two games so far.” The England squad is Dave Beasant, John Fashanu, Trevor Steven, Graham Roberts, Carlton Palmer, Chris Waddle, Nigel Spackman, Ruel Fox, Peter Beardsley, Kenny Sansom, Nigel Winterburn, Lee Sharp, Ian Wright, Steve Hodge, Rob Lee, Michael Thomas and Rob Jones. This will be Roberts’ first All Stars match. “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s Scotland against England so everybody will want to win, that’s for sure, and I’m sure the public will want to come and see it.” The Scotland squad will be announced on Thursday, but it will include Ally McCoist, John Collins and Gary McAllister. Before the main event there will be a game between world legends and celebrities and a Scottish League All Stars select. Among the names confirmed for that game are Arthur Numan, Jim Duffy, Robert Prytz, Harvey from So Solid Crew, Justin Currie from Del Amitri and members of Simple Minds. Tickets are available from McDiarmid Park during office hours, priced at £15 for adults and £10 concessions. Hospitality packages are also available. |
