Motor cyclist killed in crash

AN ACCIDENT on a remote Perthshire road claimed the life of a motor cyclist last night.

The victim, whose name will be withheld until family have been informed, was involved in a collision with a Renault Megane on the A93, a mile south of Spittal of Glenshee, at 6.10 pm.

Emergency services raced to the site but the rider of the Honda motor cycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He is believed to be from the Warrington area in Cheshire. The occupants of the car were unhurt.

The stretch of road between Blairgowrie and the Glenshee ski centre is notoriously inaccessible and an air ambulance from Paisley was scrambled. An ambulance from Braemar and a GP were also rushed to the spot about 15 miles north of Blairgowrie.

The road was closed while accident investigators examined the scene and a clear-up operation was completed. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Perth.
