Big Lee set to suffer with the fans

Lee Wilkie—preparing for “a long afternoon.”

LEE WILKIE will be kicking every ball from the stand at Almondvale tomorrow as Dundee scrap for their SPL survival.

The big defender would have loved to have been on the park and able to influence events against Livingston as the relegation battle reaches decision day.

However, knee ligament damage has robbed him of that opportunity and he will have to make do with watching proceedings from the sidelines along with the thousands of travelling supporters.

And Wilkie believes he will be more anxious than the men who will be out there trying to keep the Dark Blues in the top flight.

“Obviously, I would prefer to be playing rather than spectating, but I am sure they can do the job without me,” he said.

“I have no doubt it will be worse for me than the guys who are in the team because I can do nothing to help the situation other than cheer them on.

“They have their fate in their own hands and the good thing is that if we win we stay up.

“The boys have been buzzing in training and they don’t seem nervous to me, which is a good thing.

“I, on the other hand, will be going through the same emotions as the fans and I am sure it will be a long afternoon.”

Wilkie could be accom-panied in the stand by midfielder Garry Brady, who has an ankle injury and is rated “extremely doubtful” by Dens boss Jim Duffy.

Joel Kitamirike won’t make it but Scott Robertson and Brent Sancho both trained yesterday.

“It was good to see Scott and Brent back on the training pitch but we will leave it a little while longer before deciding on their availability,” said Duffy.

Dundee have sold all of the seats on their subsidised buses for tomorrow’s trip.

Those travelling are urged to avoid both the Forth and Kincardine bridges by going via the A9 to Stirling, along the M9 to Edinburgh and on to the M8 to Livingston.
