Queen set to visit royal graduation

THE QUEEN and Duke of Edinburgh will be in Scotland next month when Prince William graduates from St Andrews University.

And although no confirmation has come from either the university or Clarence House, it seems likely that the royal couple will attend the ceremony and meet the prince’s fellow students and residents.

The ceremony is to take place in the Younger Hall on June 23, just after the prince’s 23rd birthday, and he will be among 1500 students who will attend a total of seven different events.

He is expected to receive a bachelor of arts degree with honours in geography, having transferred to the course after a year studying the history of art. His girl friend Kate Middleton is expected to receive a master of arts degree with honours in art history.

Yesterday the university was directing all inquiries to Clarence House, where a spokesperson said there are no details available of who will attend, and that any suggestion that the Queen might is “speculation”.
