FIFE POLICE are offering up-to-the minute travel information for people visiting Fife for the Open Championship in St Andrews next month.

Almost a quarter of a million visitors are expected and the police and their partners are determined the golf fans’ trip should be as perfect as possible.

Inspector Andy Edmonston said, “One of my main concerns is making sure that people travelling to Fife for the Open Championship arrive in St Andrews safely and as easily as possible—and then get away again.

“This is why it is so important both visitors to the kingdom, and indeed our own people, follow the up-to-the-minute travel information that will be posted on the special Open Golf website, www.fifedirect.org.uk/opengolf.”

The website provides links to other open tournament-related websites.

Travel information leaflets can be downloaded, as can details of parking charges for a 3000-space park-and-ride being prepared at Guardbridge.

There is also information on Golflink, a combined bus and rail service which will take people from any rail station in Scotland to Leuchars and then by escorted bus to St Andrews.
