A MOTORCYCLIST died yesterday near Lochearnhead after a collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The accident happened about 10 am near the entrance to Dalkenneth Lodge, approximately 1.5 miles east of Lochearnhead.

The man’s red Yamaha R1 motor cycle collided with the car while negotiating a series of tight bends. The motor-cycle and rider left the road after the collision.

The road was closed for several hours to allow investigations. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in Stirling.

The man’s identity is not being released until next of kin have been informed.

Central Scotland Police are appealing for witnesses. They want to speak to anyone who saw the collision, or a red and a black motor cycle travelling in tandem on the A85 immediately before the incident.
