Three cheers all round

The crew of Team Save the Children celebrate the end of their round-the-world trip.

ARBROATH SAILOR Brian Wallace completed his marathon 33,500-mile round-the-world yacht race on Saturday afternoon.

At exactly 4.43 pm Brian and the crew of Team Save the Children crossed the BT Global Challenge finishing line in Portsmouth some nine and a bit months after setting sail. Docking on the pontoon, Brian and the crew flew in the face of tradition by spraying the people on the dock with champagne instead of the other way around.

Team skipper Paul Kelly said, “It’s been great to be able to provide a platform to raise awareness for Save the Children around the world.”

The Global Challenge was won by BG Spirit with Team Save the Children 11th.
