DUNDEE UNITED fans are facing a battle to get enough tickets for their UEFA Cup tie against MyPa 47, writes Ian Roache. The Finnish club’s ground in Anjalankoski, a small town over 100 miles east of Helsinki, has a capacity of about 3000. UEFA regulations state that visiting teams are entitled to 5% of the total number of seats, so that leaves room for only around 150 travelling fans. Tannadice officials and the United Travel Club have teamed up in a bid to increase their allocation. United director Derek Robertson was in talks with members of the MyPa party after the draw in Switzerland yesterday, and Ken Robb of the United Travel Club will fly out to Finland on Monday. “With the ground only holding around 3000 that could be a problem, but we are talking to their people and we could work something out,” said Robertson. “There were some concerns about accom- modation being in short supply because of the World Athletics Cham- pionships being on in Helsinki that week. “But we did a bit of pre-planning and have secured enough rooms for two charter flights full of fans in the Anjalankoski area. “Of more concern to us is the ticket situation because as things stand we are over-subscribed.” United are also checking out the possibility of flying into a military airfield closer to Anjalankoski instead of Helsinki. |
