Chance to catch a £1000 tagged trout

TROUT ANGLERS are again being given a chance catch a £1000 tagged trout—and raise money for people living with cancer at the same time, writes Ken Bell, angling correspondent.

Macmillan Cancer Relief’s fly-fishing event is being held on nine fisheries ranging from Craigmore in Northern Ireland to Newton at Wormit.

Anglers wishing to take part in the charity event should call 0800 0649999 to register for a fun day’s fishing.

At each fishery there is the chance to catch the £1000 tagged fish.

There are also prizes for heaviest bag, second heaviest bag and highest sponsorship raised.

Among the fisheries taking part are Mossat Trout Fishery, Aberdeenshire, on September 3; Rothiemurchus Trout Fishery, Aviemore, September 11; Kingennie Fishings, Kingennie, September 17; and Newton Fishery, Wormit, on September 14.

The fishery fee must be paid on the day of the event, and anglers may enter as many fisheries as you wish, but they must raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship for each fishery to be eligible for the £1000 and other prizes.
