MONTROSE TOWN Hall will be filled with the scents of summer today as it plays host to the Montrose Horticultural Society Flower Show. The event has once again attracted a large number of entries, although the field is slightly down on last year. Society secretary William Nicoll said, “Last year in the vegetable section there was a lot more entries, but there isn’t so many this year. “The pot plants are about the same as last year, but the cut flowers have been affected by the weather in the last few weeks.” Although there has also been a slight drop in the industrial section entries, Mr Nicoll said that the children’s competition had proved to be very popular. “The children’s section has more entries this year—we co-operate with the local primary schools and the art teacher that goes round them so a lot of youngsters have got involved.” The show will run today from 10 am-6 pm. |
