By Richard Burdge A MAN died yesterday after an accident involving a tractor and van near Meigle. Tayside Fire and Rescue took nearly an hour to cut the van driver free before he could be taken to hospital in Dundee. A trauma team from Ninewells Hospital treated the man at the scene while he remained trapped. The man sustained serious leg and internal injuries and was taken by ambulance to Ninewells where he later died of his injuries. The victim, who is understood to be a local man, will not be named until relatives have been informed. The accident happened about 11.15 am on the A94 at the Ardler junction. The vehicles are understood to have collided nearly head on. The road remained closed and diversions in force until it had been cleared of fuel and debris, including the tractor’s load of turnips. Tayside Fire and Rescue units from Coupar Angus, Alyth and Perth attended and as well as freeing the victim, remained on scene for the clear-up operation. |
