By Rob McLaren and Graeme Cleland POLICE WERE last night trying to piece together the circumstances behind the death of a woman horse rider on the outskirts of Dundee. The woman, believed to be in her 40s, died at the scene after falling from a horse. The accident occurred in a field off Emmock Road shortly after 7 pm. The woman still has to be formally identified but it is thought that she lived locally. Police are still determining the circumstances behind the tragic death. A spokesman for Tayside Police said, “We are unsure at this time whether the woman fell ill while riding the horse or whether she tried to mount the horse and the horse moved. “We know that she fell and struck her head. It appears to be a tragic accident. “Ambulance workers found her to be unresponsive at the scene. She was not taken to hospital. “A post-mortem, which will take place on Friday morning, will tell us more about the circumstances behind her death. “A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.” |
