By Cara Dodson THE SKIES over north-east Fife may have been dull and overcast on Saturday, but the gloomy weather didn’t stop the crowds visiting RAF Leuchars Airshow. Young and old went along to the base to watch the wealth of displays and marvel at the aircraft on show during the packed seven-hour programme, getting the chance to see planes from days gone by as well as up-to-date models. From the legendary Spitfire and Mustang to the modern-day Typhoon, Hercules and Tornado, there was plenty on offer to keep enthusiasts entertained. The highlight of the afternoon for many was the superb acrobatics displayed by the Red Arrows. The crowd-pleasing team brought colour to the sky with their red, white and blue smoke and wowed spectators with their precision flying of loops, rolls and high-speed passes. |
