Gallery launch for health report

Scottish Mental Health Week got under way yesterday with the launch in Dundee of a report on the role played by the arts in combating the problem.

The report celebrates work by artists to challenge the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental ill health and was launched at Dundee Contemporary Arts by local group Luna.

Luna is one of the 11 projects featured, all winners at this year’s Engage Scotland awards.

Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson and Deputy Health Minister Lewis Macdonald also attended.

The Executive-backed report looks at projects including a mobile gallery and a work by an Edinburgh psychiatric patient made into a film.
