THE RUMOURED sale of the Carnoustie Golf Course Hotel to Swallow Hotels has not taken place, according to both parties yesterday. Representatives of both Swallow Hotels and the Carnoustie Golf Course Hotel said yesterday that there was “no news” regarding the latest speculation that the four-star Angus hotel had new owners. Local conjecture on Wednesday was that the acquisition was a “done deal.” A spokesperson in the Press office for Swallow Hotels, which is owned by the London and Edinburgh Inns group, said that this was “not something they were aware of.” Carnoustie director Martin Delaney also said any speculation was premature. “I’ve no doubt the hotel will be sold one day and when it is we will make an announcement and I’d be surprised if the new owners didn’t want to join in that news,” he said. “Other than that, our policy is and always has been not to comment on rumours.” |
