STAFF AT Dundee College bid a fond farewell to some foreign friends yesterday following a memorable three-month stay in the city. Seven Slovenian students, three men and four women, arrived from Gea College as part of the Leonardo da Vinci Euroskills project and quickly made a second home for themselves in Tayside. During their stay, arranged by the EU to encourage student mobility and enterprise throughout Europe, the students sampled working life with several local employers including the council, Tesco and the marketing unit at the college. Mateja Bajsic, who worked with the marketing unit during her stay, said the students had thoroughly enjoyed indulging in every possible aspect of Scottish culture. “We are all sad to go because we have had a great time here in Dundee,” she said. “We learned so much while we were here, and loved indulging in everything Scottish—particularly haggis!” Lecturers Campbell Hendry and Clare Masterton worked closely with the students and at an informal ceremony presented them with certificates to mark their stay. “We have held regular meetings with the students to make sure everything is going well,” Mr Hendry said. “The students have been a great asset and upheld their responsibilities while they were working.” |
