A MAN has died after falling from a roof at his farm near Kinross. Hugh Black (42) died in hospital a day after the tragic accident which occurred while he was maintaining sheds at Easter Balgeddie Farm, Kinnesswood. The farmer had been replacing guttering between two sheds when he fell last Wednesday. He was found lying on the ground by a friend, a builder, who had been helping him. Mr Black was rushed to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, and then to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, but died the next day. One of his three brothers, Scott, also a farmer, said his parents, James and Margaret, and the rest of the family were devastated. He told The Courier, “You couldn’t have asked for a better brother. “He was a very straight, honest person. He worked with me a lot; he used to come along and work for nothing. “He absolutely adored his three young nephews.” He also said he had died looking after the farm of which he was so proud. “His farm was his showpiece; he was always trying to keep things right and tidy.” Mr Black was a single man. He had set up on his own at Easter Balgeddie in 1996, after moving from the family farm, Forthar Mill, by Freuchie. He had expanded and improved the farm, and built a house for himself there. |
