This ‘Santa’ leads the way at the start of the race.

AROUND 200 runners and walkers made Forfar’s Plum Pudding Plod a Boxing Day cracker.

It was one of the largest turnouts for the annual event staged by Forfar Road Runners over a three-mile course around the town loch.

“It’s the busiest we’ve been for many a long year and we’re delighted so many people came along to join us,” explained club secretary Ron Milne.

“There were people of all ages, right down to toddlers who walked the course with their mums and dads.

“This year the weather was perfect for the run, so that probably had a big bearing on the large entry.”

Those nursing a dull head after imbibing too much the night before were left rubbing their eyes as they saw three Santas completing the course on foot.

Cameron Burt, from Kirriemuir, was first home after leading virtually from the start. His time was 15 minutes and 51 seconds.

First woman over the line was Lindsey Murray, of Dundee, in a time of 17 minutes and 40 seconds.

Craig Bell, of Forfar, was the winning junior, arriving home in 19 minutes and 24 seconds.
