TAYSIDE DEPUTY Chief Constable Willie Bald and Chief Superintendent Brian Powrie have been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal. Mr Bald (50) was appointed deputy chief constable in December having previously served Tayside as assistant chief constable from 2001. Mr Bald said, “It is a great honour and one that I feel reflects the huge amount of work that was undertaken in Tayside and across Scotland and the UK for the G8 summit.” His career began with Lothian and Borders Police in 1975. Chief Superintendent Powrie was equally delighted to be awarded the QPM, describing it as one of the highlights of his career, which began as a cadet in Tayside in 1975. He said, “I am extremely proud to receive this award, but feel that I do so on behalf of all those who worked to ensure that we delivered a safe and secure G8 summit.” |
