YOUNG THEATRE designer Jeni Campbell has been seeing stars recently as her vision for a children’s show has won critical accolades while enchanting audiences, young and old, writes Joy Watters, arts reporter. Jeni (24), who comes from Broughty Ferry, has been working as a designer for around 18 months and her contribution to The Selfish Giant at The Arches, Glasgow, in which she designs everything and makes a lot of it too, has been lauded in all the reviews for the show. The play by Oscar Wilde, although intended for younger children, has been wowing all ages. Jeni’s set has been described as “a work of art” by one critic, and her design as “brilliant” and “beautiful” by others in their five-star reviews. Jeni, a former pupil of Monifieth High School, went to Dundee College and then on to Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art where she did a foundation year. |
