STAGECOACH FOUNDER Ann Gloag has sold her Scone mansion for £1.55 million—£300,000 below the original asking price. Victorian mansion Balcraig House, was placed on the open market in June at offers over £1.85 million after Mrs Gloag, who founded the transport giant in Perth with her brother Brian Souter, bought Kinfauns Castle nearby. The buyer of the expansive property which, in a previous incarnation as a hotel, boasted customers such as former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, was not being revealed by agents yesterday. It is set in 11 acres of grounds and includes nine bedrooms and four reception rooms in its three storeys. It also has a bothy cottage, swimming pool, tennis court, gym, paddock and summerhouse. Planning applications to convert Kinfauns Castle from a hotel to private dwelling have been submitted to Perth and Kinross Council. Mrs Gloag, whose family fortune is estimated at £400 million, also owns Beaufort Castle, near Beauly. |
