Arbroath harbour development

WORK ON a new access roundabout to Arbroath harbour began this week.

The roundabout on the A92 at Burnside Drive is part of a scheme by Angus Council to transform the harbour into a major tourist attraction. The work is expected to last 16 weeks.

It will also include the construction of a turning circle, the installation of a controlled pedestrian crossing and new street lighting, signs and road markings. The new roundabout will improve access to the harbour, which is set for a £1.7 million revamp.

The project will see the addition of a seafood restaurant and offices and a range of other possible facilities such as a cafe, art gallery and a delicatessen.

A visitor centre, which will be managed by tourism body visitScotland, will also be created, along with public toilets.
