Charity’s thanks to readers

BIG-HEARTED Courier readers have helped save the lives of numerous badly injured dogs after overwhelming a local charity with their generosity.

Staff at the Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) have expressed their sincere thanks to readers following a hugely successful bout of fund-raising.

The incredible response to a Christmas charity drive saw the kennels raising almost eight times the initial target.

“During our Christmas appeal the sum of £820 was required for special bedding for the dogs at our kennels,” said a spokeswoman.

“That amount was raised in just a few days of our appeal being placed in The Courier—and money continued to pour in.

“The total sum eventually contributed came to a magnificent £6076.68.

“It will go toward financing veterinary operations and treatments which would otherwise have exerted a great strain on PADS’ resources and has helped many badly injured dogs to resume normal lives.”
