DUNDEE LORD Provost John Letford hosted a civic reception last night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bishop Logan’s appointment to the See of Dunkeld.

Vincent Logan, Tayside’s leading Roman Catholic clergyman, was appointed bishop in 1981, aged 39.

The Rev Erik Cramb, Bishop John Mantle, Dundee West MSP Kate Maclean and Dundee City Council leisure and arts convener Charles Farquhar were among guests at the reception.

On behalf of the city of Dundee, Mr Letford presented Bishop Logan with a Henri Matisse print, as the bishop is a great admirer of the artist’s work.

Mr Letford praised Bishop Logan for his “outstanding talent.” He said, “I know that since you came to live in Dundee 25 years ago, you have worked tirelessly, not only on behalf of the Catholic community in the city, but also for all of our citizens.”

Bishop Logan, whose family were at the civic reception, including his brother Willie and wife Celia, who had travelled from Canada for the special occasion, said he was “deeply honoured” that the lord provost had arranged the gathering.
