VISITORS WILL have no excuses for missing one of the area’s more colourful attractions after the creation of an “unmissable” artwork. Ron Gillies of the Cairn O’ Mohr winery near Errol is convinced his unique new sign will draw in the punters and gave a typically interesting account of how it came to be created. “I was fed up of people saying they could not find the Cairn O’ Mohr winery so I commissioned the famous Scots artist, Shoe-loose Mctrec to paint an original artwork that could not be missed,” Ron said, adding that the process was far from straightforward. “Shoeloose was busy so he did it with his teeth.” Ron gave an interpretation of the work that would not be out of place in the Tate Modern. “It describes the ineffable power of concentration as signified by the timeless red-bearded Cairn O’ Mohr guy grappling the bottle to be lifted off to the stars only to be dumped later on somewhere else,” he explained. Another sign will be erected later. Meanwhile new wine flavours of summer redcurrant, blackcurrant and rhubarb are due to come out this summer. |
